GATESVILLE, Texas (KWTX) An official oppression charge against Coryell County Jail Administrator Lt. Karen Porter, who was placed on administrative leave after she was indicted in November 2018, and then returned to work in May 2019, has been dropped, authorities confirmed Tuesday.

"I just want things to get back to normal for me,” Porter said Tuesday.

The Class A misdemeanor charge stemmed from a Texas Rangers investigation that was launched after a jail inmate lodged a complaint of assault in August 2018, the details of which weren't released.

"I believe some witnesses and the victim chose not to testify,” Coryell County Sheriff Scott Williams said Tuesday.
