Local mayoral race could come down to a coin toss

ROGERS, Texas (KWTX) The addition of a single provisional vote has led to a tie in a local mayoral race that could end up being decided by a coin toss.

Incumbent Rogers Mayor Tammy Cockrum won by a single vote in the unofficial count Saturday night, defeating challenger Billy Crow 93-92.

But the provisional vote went to Crow, which led to a 93-93 tie, City Administrator Chris Hill said in a press release Tuesday.

The candidates may agree to break the tie through such means as tossing a coin, drawing straws or by one candidate’s concession, Hill said.

If they don’t, then a runoff election would be scheduled, he said.
