HARKER HEIGHTS, Texas (KWTX) Parents of Skipcha Elementary School students in Harker Heights were alerted Friday morning after a woman in a black car pulled up and offered a local elementary school girl a ride on Wrought Iron Drive.

The student told school officials that the woman, who was driving a black four-door car, drove off when she refused the offer of a ride.

The school’s principal notified KSID police, who are investigating.

The woman was white, in her 30s, and has wavy shoulder-length hair, the girl told school officials.

Parents may notice an increased police presence around the campus at 515 Prospector Trail, the district said.

“We applaud the student for their quick action in reporting the incident,” the district said.

“Parents can help us keep students safe by discussing safety procedures and reminding children always to report to school officials or police immediately when there is any type of safety threat,” the district said.
