Killeen: Highway accident leaves pedestrian, motorcyclist dead

KILLEEN, Texas (KWTX) Killeen police are investigating an early morning accident that left a pedestrian and motorcyclist dead.

According to police, officers were called around 3:37 a.m. to the westbound side of Interstate 14 near the Fort Hood Street ramp.

Police say a preliminary investigation shows the pedestrian -- identified as 43-year-old Reggie Stamps -- was walking along IH-14 in the outside lane when a motorcyclist on a 2009 Harley Davidson Street Glide traveling westbound "was unable to take evasive action and struck the pedestrian."

Stamps was pronounced dead at the scene.

The motorcyclist, identified as 53-year-old Kerwin Royce Kilgore, was taken to Carl R. Darnall Medical Center where he later died.

At the time of the accident, weather conditions were foggy and the roadway was wet, police said.

Autopsies have been ordered for both.
