Arrest made in shooting that sent man to local hospital

HARKER HEIGHTS, Texas (KWTX) Police have made an arrest after a shooting Friday afternoon near a soccer complex in Harker Heights that sent a man to the hospital with wounds to his back and side.

Officers arrested Ronald Dietrich Stabreit, 38, of Alexandria, La., just before noon Sunday on a warrant charging aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

He remained in the Bell County Jail Monday in lieu of $250,000 bond.

Officers responded to a report of an injured man just after 2 p.m. Friday in the 100 block of Ball Road just west of the Summit Soccer Complex.

The victim, a 28-year-old man, was flown to Scott & White Medical Center in Temple.

He remains at Scott & White after surgery.

Police continue to investigate.
