KILLEEN, Texas (KWTX) Police arrested two suspects and recovered both a .45 caliber and a 9mm handgun after a shooting late Wednesday morning at an apartment complex in Killeen that left a teenager dead, according to an arrest warrant affidavit released Friday.
Zeontre Da’Shon Horton, 18, was shot at around 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Bridgewater Apartments in the 600 block of West Hallmark Avenue.
Officers performed CPR on the victim until paramedics arrived.
He later died at Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center.
The two suspects, identified in the affidavit as Myshan Leandre Diggles, 30, and Malik Devante Chrystal, 21, admitted to “shooting up at the second floor area of the apartment complex.”
Chrystal is identified on the Bell County Jail's online roster as Chrystal Malik Devante.
There was no immediately explanation for the discrepancy.
They’ve been charged with deadly conduct.
Their bonds were set at $200,000 each.
A witness said the shooting happened after “the suspects had a verbal altercation with an individual on the balcony.”
Officers found “numerous .45 caliber semi-automatic shell casings and 9mm semi-automatic shell casings” in the area of the parking lot and a breezeway and multiple bullet fragments on the second floor landing.
“Suspect Diggles stated that he had a .45 caliber handgun. Suspect Chrystal said he had a 9mm handgun that was given to him by suspect Diggles. Both guns were recovered,” the affidavit said.
