Man accused of robbing local bank arrested in Bell County

KILLEEN, Texas (KWTX) The man accused of robbing a Killeen bank on Friday afternoon is in custody, police announced.

Killeen police says Keith Smith, 47, was captured Saturday morning in rural Bell County without incident.

Surveillance cameras captured images of the man as he entered the First National Bank at 4304 East Central Texas Expressway, handed a teller a note demanding money, and then escaped in a black pickup truck with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Officers responded to a report of the robbery just before 1 p.m. Friday.

In the surveillance video, he was wearing a black coat, a plaid scarf, a multi-color shirt, black pants and a black ball cap.

The FBI, Bell County Sheriff's SWAT Team assisted Killeen Police Department Violent Crimes Unit in the investigation.
