$203K bond set for suspect in shooting that sent teen to local hospital

KILLEEN, Texas (KWTX) Joshua DaSilva, 20, of Killeen, remained in the Bell County Jail Friday charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and failure to identify in connection with a shooting late Tuesday morning near a McDonald’s restaurant in downtown Killeen that left a teenager injured.

He’s held in lieu of bonds totaling $203,000.

The first reports of gunfire came in at around 11:55 a.m. in the 100 block of Rancier Avenue.

Multiple shots were fired.

Police said an altercation led to the shooting.

The 18-year-old victim was flown to Scott & White Medical Center in Temple in serious condition, police said.

The suspect ran toward a nearby apartment complex and was arrested at around 12:15 p.m. after a foot chase.

Nearby West Ward Elementary School at 709 West Dean Ave. was placed on external lockdown because of the shooting.
