WHITNEY, Texas (KWTX) A multi-agency search came to an end Tuesday after the body of a 64-year-old man was pulled from Lake Whitney.

Authorities from Hill and Bosque counties searched for nearly two days before pulling the body of Richard Melton out of the water.

According to Texas Game Warden Brian Srba, officials found Melton around 11 a.m.

Srba said Melton jumped in the water to cool off on Sunday afternoon and the boat drifted away from him while he was trying to get back.
He became distressed and went under.

“Anytime you are boating know where the life saving devices are and make sure they are easily accessible," Srba said.

Texas Parks and Wildlife's dive team assisted in the search as did canines and aviation team with a helicopter and drones.
