CAMERON, Texas (KWTX) Schools in the Cameron ISD were locked down briefly Friday after officials were advised just after 3 p.m. of a potential threat of an armed and dangerous person near the community.

“In response, the district placed all schools on soft lockdown and suspended dismissal,” Cameron Superintendent Kevin Sprinkles said in a press release.

After district officials confirmed with police and deputies that the threat didn’t include the city and that officers had secured the city’s streets, the lockdown was lifted and dismissal resumed, he said.
