Search for serial bank robber extends to Texas

(KWTX) The FBI is offering a $10,000 reward in the search for a man dubbed “The Chameleon Beard Bandit” after a series of bank robberies since September stretching from North Carolina to Texas.

The man is suspected in the Jan. 5 robbery of the Chase Bank in Longview.

He’s also wanted in connection with holdups on Sept. 29 at the Bank of America in Durham, N.C.; Oct. 13 at the 1st Trust Bank in London, Ky.; on Nov. 14 at the Virginia Commonwealth Bank in Henrico, Va., Nov. 17 at the Bank of America in Greensboro, N.C.; and Dec. 12 at the Wells Fargo Bank in Roanoke, Va.

In each case, the man produced notes demanding money and either produced or threatened to produce a handgun, the FBI said.

The suspect is in his mid- to late-30s, white, around 6 feet tall and weighs 180 to 240 pounds.

He wear glasses and has brown eyes, brown hair, and a beard the color of which he frequently changes, the FBI said.
