A shooting Thursday evening at a Killeen convenience store sent one man to a local hospital.

Officers were initially dispatched at around 6:35 p.m. to the Family Dollar store at 4800 Westcliff Rd., but the shooting occurred next door at the Mickey’s convenience store at 4808 Westcliff Rd., police said.

The victim was taken to Scott & White Medical Center in Temple with what police described as non-life-threatening injuries.

“Officers were told that the victim and another person were at the gas station when an unknown person discharged a weapon towards both of them. The suspect fled the area in an unknown direction,” police said in a brief press release.

Further details weren’t immediately available.
