KILLEEN, Texas (KWTX) Sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 20 for Preston Devon Harrington, 19, of Killeen, who pleaded guilty Thursday to aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in connection with a shooting in April that left a 16-year-old boy in a vegetative state.

Harrington, who was arrested on April 9, remains in the Bell County Jail in lieu of bonds totaling $13,000.

The charge stems from a late-night shooting on April 7 that left Seth Cross, who was then 15, critically injured.

Cross was at a friend’s home on Longview Drive when several people opened fire on the house.

Police said the shooting stemmed from neighborhood beef.

Cross, they said, was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.
