Teenage girls, stepfather found dead in Texas home

HOUSTON (AP) Authorities say two teenagers and their stepfather were found dead with apparent gunshot wounds in a Houston-area home.

Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez reports the discovery was made after the teenagers' mother returned home early Sunday and couldn't find her family.

She called authorities and deputies found the three bodies inside the home.

He says there was "trauma" to the bodies but provided no specifics. Gonzalez reports the bodies were found in the upstairs part of the residence.

Gonzalez gave no motive for the slayings but said investigators hadn't ruled out a murder-suicide or other causes.

The sheriff's office later identified the teenagers as Maria Perez, 14, and Isabella Perez, 15.

The office identified the man found dead as Victor Portillo.
