KILLEEN, Texas (KWTX) Law enforcement officers were en route Thursday to Central Texas from Mississippi to pick up a runaway teenager whom officers from the U.S. Marshal’s Lone Star Fugitive Task Force traced to the home of a Fort Hood soldier.
The unidentified 16-year-old girl ran away from her home in Florence, Miss., on Oct 16, authorities said Thursday.
Task force members learned that the girl was in Killeen with a 22-year-old soldier, contacted Fort Hood’s Army Criminal Investigation Office, and determined the soldier lived off post.
Marshals went to the soldier’s home and found him with the girl, authorities said Thursday.
The girl will be returned to her guardians in Mississippi.
Authorities plan to talk with local and federal prosecutors to determine if the unidentified soldier will be charged.
