BELTON, Texas (KWTX) Belton police are investigating a New Year’s Day shooting in the road in front of a home near a local high school that sent a teenager to a Temple hospital.

The 19-year-old male victim was shot twice at around 4:30 a.m. on Jan. 1 in the area of the 500 block of East 3rd Avenue, which is near Belton New Tech High School, which was closed for the holidays, police said Tuesday.

The victim, whose name was not released, was taken to Scott & White Medical Center in Temple where he’s in stable condition.

Suspects have been identified, authorities said.

Formal charges are pending a review by the Bell County District Attorney’s Office.
