TEMPLE, Texas (KWTX) The City of Temple Wednesday reported two wastewater spills totaling more than 320,000 gallons as a result of runoff from heavy rains.

A 237,450-gallon spill occurred Tuesday morning in Lions Park at 4320 Lions Park Rd. and a 92,440-gallon spill occurred at 2505 West Rd., affecting Bird Creek between Westwood and Bird Creek Drive.

Crews are pumping out the wastewater, removing debris and disinfecting the affected areas.

Residents should avoid contact with waste material, soil or water in the affected areas.

Residents whose water comes from private wells within a half mile of the spill sites should use only water that has been distilled or boiled vigorously for consumption, cooking or ice making.

The spills did not affect the city’s water supply.
