TEMPLE, Texas (KWTX) The operators of the 7 Seas Aquarium said Thursday the delay in the opening of the attraction in the Temple Mall was simply a result of “construction hiccups, and nothing more, despite what may be reported by local broadcast outlets and on social media.”

The owners said they’re “working hard to comply” with plumbing code provisions and said they’ve “hired a construction expediter to help us break through any delays and get our aquariums ready for your visit.”

Earlier this month, the operators said they expected the attraction to open on Feb. 24, but in a press release last week said, “Due to some last minute minor adjustments and revisions required by the city's planning department, our opening is temporarily delayed.”

“We do not anticipate this delay taking us beyond the end of the month,” they said.

The aquarium is being constructed in the space formerly occupied by Dillard’s.
