TEMPLE, Texas (KWTX) Community members and city leaders gathered for a town hall meeting to discuss racial disparities and tension in the wake of the shooting death of Michael Dean.
The meeting, held at St. James United Methodist Church on 707 S. Third St., served as a community panel that the city hopes to continue doing in the future.
One of the topics discussed was traffic stops and a fear of reporting complaints against officers.
Many members of the black community said they're fearful of saying anything.
Temple Mayor Tim Davis stated he is willing to work with the police department to keep complaints anonymous.
Police Chief Jim Tobin agreed with the idea and urged citizens to file complaints in order to keep the best officers on the force.
The Texas Rangers are expected to wrap up their investigation in Michael Dean's case in the coming days.
