Tips to stick to your weight loss New Year's resolution

KILLEEN,Texas (KWTX) Is losing weight part of your 2019 resolution?

Killeen personal trainer and BEFIT gym owner, Rodney Alfred, says it starts with simple steps.

For beginners, the steps include changing slowly by avoiding fatty and sugary foods and make the effort to work out 2 to 3 times a week.

Alfred says people who don't see quick results often quit their New Year's weight loss resolution plan.

"Realistically half a pound to a pound each week is the safe route to be as long as they stay consistent with their nutrition and it's a good point. Losing 2 to 3 pounds is unrealistic" Alfred said.

He tells his clients if it takes a year to gain the weight it will also take a while to lose it.
