Clinton, AR (KWTX) Two wanted Waco men were arrested at a gas station in Clinton, Ark., late Wednesday night in connection with the murder of an aspiring rapper and the theft of a vehicle, police said in a Facebook post.

Casey Wade Hughes, 21, and Justice Allen Stanford, 25, were taken into custody by Clinton police at around 11 p.m. Wednesday.

Waco police officer Garen Bynum confirmed Thursday that the men were wanted in connection to a murder that took place on April 1.

Preston Scott, 29, died at the scene of the shooting on April 1 at the intersection of Dallas Street and Carver Avenue.

According to a police report, an officer was fueling his patrol unit around 10 p.m. next to the SUV when he saw Hughes get out of the passenger seat and appeared to be nervous.

The officer ran the plate and it returned as stolen.

When additional officers arrived they approached the men and arrested them.

After checking Stanford's and Hughes' identifications both came back as wanted for questioning in a possible murder.

Both men were taken to the Van Buren County Sheriff's Office for questioning.

Bynum said they will be brought back to Waco to face charges.
