Waco: Local group host its first-ever July 4th run

WOODWAY, Texas (KWTX) While many were enjoying the pool and relaxing this Fourth of July some people in Central Texas worked on their fitness by participating in a Liberty Run Thursday morning.

Around 100 runners joined the 84 Running Club in Woodway to participate in the liberty run Thursday morning.

The run started at 8 a.m. at the First Woodway Baptist Church. Runners got the chance to run one mile or four miles while wearing their red, white and blue.

“This is the first year we have done the Liberty Run but the 84 Runners Club has been around for two years and it really is a chance to love on people, connect with people and share the gospel with people,” 84 Running Club Member Rene Masciel said.

Runners received door prizes and were able to enjoy breakfast tacos after the run.

They also gave special gifts for all veterans and current military.

They are hoping to make this an annual event.
