WACO, Texas (KWTX) The United Way of Waco-McLennan County has named News 10 anchor Julie Hays as campaign ambassador.

“Our work is powered by the will and commitment of community leaders, like Julie, who are willing say ‘yes’ and see the difference we can make when we are united in our efforts. UWWMC staff and board feel honored that she said ‘yes’ to this opportunity,” CEO Barbara Mosacchio said.

In the role, Hays will “inspire and encourage community giving, and serve as an advocate for United Way of Waco-McLennan County,” the United Way said in a press release.

“As a nearly 20-year veteran of KWTX-TV, my eyes are open to the great needs in our own backyard,” Hays said.

“Many area organizations and non-profits work hard to lend a helping hand to our citizens but just need an extra boost. United Way of Waco-McLennan County does just that with a mission of fighting for health, education, financial stability and safety net services,” she said.

“What better way to live united than to help our neighbors? With the help of this outstanding community, I look forward to a very successful campaign.”
