WACO, Texas (KWTX) Waco native Wade Bowen Monday announced the musical lineup for his annual Bowen Music Fest in Waco
This year’s headliner is the veteran rock band Cheap Trick.
The event, which the 1996 Reicher High School graduate started 21 years ago as a small endeavor, has since grown to one of the premiere events in Central Texas, bringing huge musical acts to town.
“Every year it’s a challenge to do this lineup, but it’s a challenge that I love,” Bowen told KWTX.
The lineup Bowen announced Monday morning also includes Whiskey Myers, Tracy Byrd, Shane Smith & The Saints and Josh Weathers.
Several other artists will again join Wade for the signature “jam” portion of his concert, which includes different artists playing together including Stoney LaRue, Cody Canada, Jamey Johnson, Brent Cobb, Paul Thorn and William Clark Green.
“I’m so proud of this year’s lineup and I have no doubt that fans will hear some music they love and as always, music they love that they’ve never heard before,” Bowen said.
The Bowen Family foundation, formed by Bowen, has raised nearly $3.5 million through the concert and charity golf tournament.
The money raised has all gone to support such local organizations as CASA and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Waco.
“The Bowen Family Foundation has become a vital clearinghouse to help ensure that all the money raised goes to worthy causes in and around Waco that directly affects families here in our community all year round,” Bowen said.
Last year’s music fest was headlined by REO Speedwagon and attracted more than 7,000.
Additional musical guests will be announced at a later date.
This year’s Bowen Music Fest is June 2 at Touchdown Alley outside of McLane Stadium.
