(KWTX) Walgreens, in a Securities and Exchange Commission filing, says it plans to shutter 200 stores in the U.S. to cut costs.
“Following a review of the real estate footprint in the United States, which review was also announced on the company’s earnings call for the fiscal quarter ended May 31, 2019, the Company also plans to close approximately 200 locations in the United States,” the filing said.
The filing did not identify the stores that could be targeted for closure.
The company estimates savings at $1.5 billion over the next several years.
The company, with more than 18,000 stores worldwide, earlier announced plans to close 200 stores in the U.K.
