Local officer struck while providing motorcycle escort for funeral procession

WACO, Texas (KWTX) – An off-duty Waco police officer was struck Wednesday morning while providing a motorcycle escort for a funeral procession in Waco.
Firefighters used the Jaws of Life to free the driver of the car that struck the motorcycle.
The accident happened Wednesday morning at the intersection of Crosslake Parkway and Corporation Parkway near Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest Medical Center.
Both the officer and the driver of the vehicle that hit him were taken to Hillcrest.
The officer’s injuries were serious, but not life-threatening, Officer Garen Bynum said.
Crosslake Parkway was closed to traffic because of the accident.
