LAMPASAS, Texas (KWTX) - Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is investigating a major crash that required one person to be flown to the hospital Wednesday morning.

At around 4:00 a.m., a truck tractor was broken down on the outside southbound lane of US 183.

Authorities say the truck tractor had reflective markers behind it.

A 2020 Ford Transit Van, driven by a 28-year-old Pasadena man, was driving toward the truck tractor.

The driver said he briefly looked down and when he looked back up, he noticed the truck tractor, according to authorities.

Authorities say the driver was unable to avoid the truck tractor and proceeded to crash into the back of the it, causing the 33-year-old passenger in the Ford Transit Van to suffer incapacitating injuries.

The passenger was flown to Seton ER in Round Rock by a Care Flight ambulance.

No additional injuries were reported from the crash.
