One hospitalized after rollover crash on Highway 36 by Morgan’s Point Resort

MORGAN’S POINT RESORT, Texas (KWTX) - UPDATE: A 38-year-old man from Pflugerville, Texas, suffered “incapacitating injuries” in a rollover crash on Highway 36 near Morgan’s Point Resort on Thursday morning.
At 5:01 am on June 12th, Morgan’s Point Resort Fire-Rescue responded to a call referring to a rollover accident on Highway 36.
DPS said the man, whose name was not released to the public, was driving a Honda CRV when the vehicle hydroplaned, lost control, crossed over into the oncoming lane, collided with a guardrail, and rolled over two to three times.
The driver was trapped inside the vehicle, but was removed and transported to Baylor Scott and White in Temple for medical treatment.
“This area of Highway 36 is a location of frequent accidents, particularly when it’s raining. MPRFR would like to encourage you all to slow down and take a little extra time to get where you are going when the roadways are wet. A vehicle can hydroplane in as little as 1/10th of an inch of water (about the width of a nickel). Taking a little extra time can be the difference between arriving at your destination or arriving at the hospital,” MPRFR says.
Authorities say when water is covering the roadway, to always turn around don’t drown.
