Elm Mott Fire Rescue, youth volunteers help rebuild Hunt after July 4 floods
More than 15 members of Heritage Youth Missions joined EMFR to help restore homes and the historic Hunt Store following devastating flood damage

HUNT, Texas (KWTX) - Elm Mott Fire Rescue (EMFR) celebrated its partnership with Heritage Youth Missions in helping with disaster relief and rebuilding efforts in the community of Hunt after the devastating July 4 floods.

Destructive, fast-moving waters along the Guadalupe River rose 26 feet in just 45 minutes before dawn on July 4, washing away homes, campsites and vehicles in Kerr County and surrounding areas.
Heritage Youth Missions, a local youth organization, sent more than 15 hardworking members who, according to the department, did “much of the heavy lifting,” including stripping flood-damaged homes down to the studs.

The department called it an honor to work alongside such a passionate, skilled and faith-driven team.
“Their energy, heart and dedication inspired us, and their willingness to roll up their sleeves and serve others left a lasting mark on everyone involved,” the department said.

The EMFR crew assisted the youth team with framing repairs to the historic Hunt Store, an iconic part of the community’s history.
“At EMFR, we believe in working alongside our neighbors to make our communities the best they can be, whether that’s here at home or across the state,” the department said.

Elm Mott Fire Rescue emphasized that it is more than just an emergency response team. It is a group of neighbors, volunteers and partners committed to building stronger communities, serving with compassion, working with integrity and leaving every place better than they found it.
