HARKER HEIGHTS, Texas (KWTX) — A 19-year-old man died and another was injured after a shooting on Interstate 14 early Saturday morning, police said.

Harker Heights police responded to Seton Hospital around 5:01 a.m. after two gunshot victims arrived at the emergency room, according to a press release.

Sedell Barrios, 19, of Harker Heights, was critically injured and died shortly after arriving at the hospital, police said. A second victim, a 19-year-old man from Killeen, was treated at Seton before being transferred to Scott and White Hospital.

Investigators determined the shooting happened along eastbound Interstate Highway 14 between Main Street and Paddy Hamilton in Nolanville, police said Monday.

Both the suspect and victim vehicles were traveling eastbound when gunshots were fired from the suspect vehicle into the victim’s vehicle, striking two occupants, according to police. The victims then drove to Seton Hospital in Harker Heights.

Investigators are following up on information that the suspects may be traveling in a dark-colored Nissan sedan, according to the release.

Police said there does not appear to be any threat to the community.

The investigation has been transferred to the Nolanville Police Department in coordination with the Texas Rangers.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the appropriate authorities.
