Premature babies celebrate Easter early at Baylor Scott & White NICUs
Tiniest Texans program creates memories for families during hospital stays
WACO, Texas (KWTX) — The tiniest Texans are celebrating Easter a few days early.
Baylor Scott & White Health’s Tiniest Texans program celebrated the holiday with newborns in their Neonatal Intensive Care Units. The premature babies posed for photos in Easter-themed outfits, including pastel colors, bunny ears and pictures with eggs.
The Tiniest Texans program celebrates newborns in NICUs through various themed events and community engagement activities. Past celebrations have included Fourth of July, Thanksgiving, Mother’s Day and Christmas, among others.
The program provides support to families during challenging times and fosters a sense of community and celebration. The events are designed to uplift families and create lasting memories during their time in the NICU.
Baylor Scott and White is the only local hospital between Dallas and Austin that has a Level III unit in Waco and a Level IV unit at McLane Children’s in Temple to care for the most critical babies.
The Temple unit has 51 beds and takes care of approximately 800 babies a year. The Waco unit has 30 beds and provides medical care for 450 babies a year.
Ascension Providence in Waco also provides care with a Level II unit.
