A man who was struck by a car while riding his bicycle Monday evening in Nolanville was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries, authorities said.

The accident was reported at around 5:10 p.m. Monday on Nolan Loop.

The driver of the Hyundai Elantra that struck the bicyclist told authorities she didn’t see the rider because the sun was in her eyes, Department of Public Safety Trooper Matias Falcon said.

The injured rider was taken to Scott & White Medical Center in Temple by ambulance.

A medical helicopter was dispatched to the accident scene, but developed mechanical problems and couldn’t be used to transport the man, whose name was not released.
