Four arrested in raid on home near local elementary school
Four people were arrested early Thursday in a drug raid on home near La Vega Elementary School in Bellmead, police said Thursday afternoon.
The raid at the home at 1231 Ashelman St. in Bellmead “was based on an investigation that resulted in the probable cause that the residence was involved in narcotics use and manufacturing,” police said in a press release.
The raid was conducted before the start of school in order “to neutralize any dangerous chemicals that may have been located,” police said.
“School officials were notified of the operation and its status,” police said.
Officers arrested Benjamin Reed II, 48, of Mexia and Donald Sharp, Jr., 34, Jamie Moyer, 32, and Kyle Aherns, 36 all of Bellmead.
Reed remained jailed Thursday afternoon in lieu of bonds totaling $11,000 charged with possession of marijuana and possession of chemicals in a drug-free zone.
Moyer remained jailed, charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance and burglary of a habitation.
Bond was set at $5,000 on one possession charge.
Bond has not been set on the other charges.
Aherns and Sharp did not appear on the jail’s online inmate log Thursday afternoon.
The warrant was executed by officers from the McGregor Police Department, Woodway Pubilc Safety Department, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, the Department of Public Safety and the Bellmead Police Department.
