Person involved in deadly local shooting related to police employee
The Texas Rangers will join the investigation of a deadly Nov. 12 shooting in Killeen “in the interests of transparency” after authorities determined that one of the people involved in the incident is related to a Killeen Police Department employee, police spokesman Eric Morsbach said in press release Friday afternoon.
The release did not identify either the person involved or the employee to whom the person is related and did not indicate whether the unnamed person is a suspect.
Curtis E. Shelley, 27, died just before 5 p.m. Nov. 12 at Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center after officers who responded to a report of a shooting at around 2:10 p.m. found him lying in the road in the 1000 block of Cedar Drive in Killeen.
The shooting evidently stemmed from an argument, police said.
