Hewitt: Trash truck catches fire

A trash truck fire Friday morning produced a cloud of smoke in a Hewitt neighborhood.

Police said the fire was reported at around 9:20 a.m. Friday in the 900 block of Rosedale Drive.

Traffic around the fire was moving slowly while firefighters were at the scene an hour later dealing with clean-up.

There was no definite cause established early on but one official said the fire may have been sparked by a mechanical malfunction with the truck.

No one was injured.
