‘They’re dealing with a horrific tragedy’: Temple children lose parents in murder-suicide

TEMPLE, Texas (KWTX) - Two young children are left without their parents following a murder-suicide over the weekend.

According to Temple Police, Saturday morning Britain Armstrong shot and killed his wife Jasmine Goldring Armstrong in the 1900 block of Broken Shoe Trail.

Temple Police said he then took off, crashed his car and eventually died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound near Lorena on Northbound I-35.

Brielle Armstrong, 9, and Jediah Armstrong, 6, are now displaced and their neighbor Scott Huntley is collecting shoes, gift cards, clothes and other items for them.

”My kind of mindset when this all begun was that two children had just been ushered out of their home and were starting with nothing,” Huntley said.

Huntley has already handed off two donation piles to their grandma in Dallas, who they’ve been staying with the past few days.

”They’re dealing with a horrific, tragic event that they are still processing themselves and I was at least able to help lessen some of that burden through community donations,” Huntley said.

Meanwhile a GoFundMe aims to raise funds for Jediah’s specialized care for his autism and sensory challenges.

”The little boy, he’s very heartwarming, if you’re involved in his life you develop a very special and intimate relationship with him,” Huntley said.

Whether through cash or other kinds of donations, Huntley wants to see more support for the siblings.

”I can tell you that this is going to a wonderful cause and I will do everything I can to continue supporting them,” Huntley said.

On Tuesday Brielle and Jediah were moved from Dallas to Georgia to live with their other grandmother. The two will stay there long-term and eventually go to a school there.
