‘We’re here to help’: Bold Republic Brewing gives clothes, food to Temple tornado victims

TEMPLE, Texas (KWTX) - At Bold Republic Brewing families still recovering from the Temple tornado could pick up whatever they need, no questions asked.

On Sunday the business distributed clothes, nonperishable food, bottled water and other items.

“People have been really good about donating things for those who lost everything,” general manager Matty Serna said.

Serna said all of the items at the distribution were donated by the community.

”The response to it has been really amazing and overwhelming,” Serna said.

Since Tuesday, Bold Republic Brewing along with about 30-area businesses have been collecting donations for families like the Joneses.

”Our whole back half of our house and the back bedroom is gone,” David Jones said. “The ceiling in the dining room caved in, the ceiling in the laundry room caved in.”

David Jones and his wife April Jones came to look for some clothes for their young grandkids, who lost the most in the twister.

”We’re grateful,” April Jones said. “Right now we don’t have the money to go and replace all the clothes because we’re paying for hotels and eating out.”

This is the first of two distribution events at Bold Republic Brewing. The second will take place from 11 to 3 p.m. on Monday.

”I hope we were able to provide a little sense of relief, a bit of belonging, acceptance,” Serna said. “We’re here to help. We’re a community.”

Whatever’s leftover at the end of the day on Monday won’t go to waste.

”We’ll donate it to the United Way, Salvation Army and Feed My Sheep and other nonprofits in the area,” Serna said.

Bold Republic Brewing is still looking for volunteers to help run the distribution event on Monday. Anyone interested can show up to the brewery located at 7070 Stonehollow anytime from 11 to 3 p.m. to lend a hand.

The brewery is no longer accepting clothes and household items, but is still looking for nonperishable food and toiletries.
