BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) - In the first year that 16 teams will represent the Southeastern Conference, Texas A&M was projected to finish ninth in the conference, according to a preseason poll of media at this week’s SEC media days.

The Aggies received 1,684 points, 338 points behind eighth-place Oklahoma, a conference newcomer, and 302 ahead of 10th-place Auburn.

Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, LSU and South Carolina all received first-place votes.

Georgia was the resounding selection to win the conference, ahead of second-place Texas, in its first season in the SEC, and third-place Alabama.

The Aggies also placed three players on preseason All-SEC squads, led by a pair of defensive linemen. Both Shemar Turner and Purdue transfer Nic Scourton were named to the second team defensive squad, while offensive lineman Trey Zuhn III was a third team offensive honoree.
