BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) - The Texas football team will make its debut season in the Southeastern Conference in 2024, after making a run to the College Football Playoffs last season. Here is a quick look at the Longhorns:

COACH — Steve Sarkisian: 71-49, 10 seasons (25-14 in three seasons at Texas).

2023 SEASON — 12-2 overall, 8-1 in Big 12 (1st); College Football Playoff semifinal.

RETURNING STARTERS — 13 (Five offensive, Seven defensive).

TOP PLAYERS — QB Quinn Ewers, RB Jaydon Blue, WR Isaiah Bond, LT Kelvin Banks Jr., LB Anthony Hill.

KEY LOSSES — WR Xavier Worthy, WR Jordan Whittington, RB Jonathan Brooks, WR Adonai Mitchell, OT Christian Jones, DT T’Vondre Sweat, LB Jaylan Ford.

SEASON OUTLOOK — There’s a reason Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers is featured on the cover of the new College Football 25 video game. The Longhorns return one of the most experienced quarterbacks in the country, after a season where the Southlake native passed for 3,479 yards, 22 touchdowns and completed 69 percent of his passes. He’ll work behind an offensive line that returns four starters with a combined 123 career starts. On defense, the Longhorns bring back seven defensive starters, led by linebacker Anthony Hill Jr. Texas ranked third nationally in third-down defense at 26.6 percent and sixth in red-zone defense at 45.2 percent.
