Texas A&M football begins at No. 20 in Coaches Poll

The Texas A&M football team came in at number 20 in the first USA Today Coaches Poll, unveiled Monday.
This is the fourth consecutive year the Aggies have begun in the top 25 in the poll, earning a No. 25 ranking to kick off last season. A&M reached the heights of No. 6 in 2021, and No. 7 to begin the 2022 season.
Georgia tops the preseason poll, followed by Texas at No. 4, and Alabama at No. 5. No. 3 Oregon and No. 2 Ohio State make up the rest of the top five.
The Southeastern Conference features the most teams on the poll with nine. The Big 10 follows with six.
A&M’s home-opening opponent, Notre Dame entered the season ranked No. 7. Only four preseason ranked teams sit on A&M’s schedule: Notre Dame, Missouri, LSU and Texas.
The first Associated Press Top 25 drops on August 12 at 11 a.m.
