(KBTX) - The first football matchup in Austin between Texas A&M and Texas as members of the Southeastern Conference will take place a little closer to Thanksgiving.

The Lone Star Showdown will take place on Friday, Nov. 28 at 6:30 p.m. in Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium. It was moved from Saturday, Nov. 29, according to a release from the A&M athletic department.

Last season, the return of the rivalry game was played on Saturday, Nov. 30. Texas downed the Aggies in that game 17-7.

Since 1915, the two teams have squared off on a Friday in November 15 times- including a streak of 12 games between 1996 and 2007. The Aggies are 5-10 in this rivalry matchup when it is played on Thursday.

The last time the two teams squared off in Austin was 2010, when the Aggies bested the Longhorns 24-17. Texas leads the all-time series 76-37-5, dating back to the first meeting in 1894.
