Woman arrested for reportedly hitting child in the face with a basketball at public park

DEVILS LAKE, N.D. (KVLY/Gray News) - A woman was arrested after allegedly hitting a child in the face with a basketball at a park.

Chassidy Driver is charged with felony child abuse.

According to court documents, officers were called to Roosevelt Park for reports of a woman hitting a 3-year-old and bouncing a basketball off his face.

When they arrived, a witness said Driver pulled the child down off a fence, hit him in the head and bounced the basketball off his face multiple times.

The child reportedly had three abrasions on his face that police said were consistent with the type of assault described.

Driver was arrested and taken to the Lake Region Correctional Center.
