FARGO, N.D. (KVLY/Gray News) - An eighth-grade student from North Dakota died unexpectedly last week after what is being described as a sudden health event.

According to a GoFundMe set up by friends of the family, Jemimah Audu collapsed during a basketball game at Discovery Middle School on Nov. 21. She was taken to Sanford Medical Center, where she died.

Jemimah reportedly had no prior health conditions, and an autopsy is pending at the University of North Dakota.

The fundraiser thanked the emergency room staff who tried to revive the 13-year-old.

“Jemimah will always be remembered as a girl full of life, brave, joyful, respectful, energetic, loving, and radiant,” loved ones shared. “A daughter, a sister, a friend, and a gift from God whose light continues to shine.”

According to family friends, Jemimah’s funeral was scheduled for Monday at Northview Church.
